Summary
LuJam VPN allows you to connect to your home or office network from your smartphone, laptop, or tablet, at the same time benefiting from the constant protection that LuJam Cyber offers. We recommend that all members of the organisation should use the VPN facility to protect them when out and about. Team members who do not have a LuJam ACPU at home should use VPN when at home also.
The following clients are supported at the time of writing:-
• Microsoft Windows 7 or newer
• Apple Mac OS X
• Apple iOS on iPad and iPhone
• Android-based phones and tablets
LuJam VPN has the following requirements:-
• The home or office gateway has a static public IP address or a dynamic DNS hostname.
• The gateway is configured to forward UDP port 1194 to the LuJam ACPU.
Setup
Setting up LuJam VPN is simple.
First, log in to the LuJam portal at https://portal.lujam.com. Go to Settings > VPN, and click on the “Configure VPN” button.
Next, enter the static IP address or DNS hostname of the home or office gateway.
In the majority of cases, it will not be necessary to edit the advanced settings. However, should you need to change the UDP port number or private VPN subnet address, click on “Show advanced” to expose these settings.
Finally, click “Submit”. The portal will acknowledge that the request to initialise the VPN has been accepted. Please note that it can take up to an hour for the initialisation to complete. You will receive an email notifying you that the VPN has been initialised.
The next step is to add a VPN user. It is recommended that each member of staff within the organisation is set up with a dedicated user account, which they can share between their own personal devices.
Within the portal, go to Settings > VPN, and click on the “Add a new VPN user” button.
When prompted, enter the email address of the user you would like to add.
Finally, click “Save”.
The user will receive an email containing a VPN certificate to install on their devices, and a separate email containing a VPN password. These will be used when setting up the VPN client.
For information on how to install the VPN client, please see the LuJam VPN installation guides for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
To cancel a user's VPN access, for example if a member of staff leaves your organisaion, it is necessary to delete their corresponding VPN user account from the LuJam portal. To do this, log in to the portal, and go to Settings > VPN. Then click on the waste bin icon to the right of the user you wish to delete.
You will be asked to confirm that you wish to permanently delete the user, and you will receive a confirmation that the user has been deleted.
To reactivate a user account that has been deleted, follow the "Add a new VPN user" process described above. It will be necessary to import a new LuJam certificate into the user's mobile devices.
